Celebrating Our 10th Year

2012 will mark our 10th anniversary as owners of the North Country Angler. For the last ten years Janet and I have enjoyed your loyal patronage and we sincerely thank you for making the North Country Angler your fly shop. It is our sincere hope that you will continue to support us in our efforts to make it another ten years. In celebration of our 10th year we are making a few changes. We will be adding some new exciting product lines and hosting some specials events during the coming year.

As part of our 10th year anniversary, we've had our web site updated to a slightly new, cleaner look. We know you loved the old site and hope you embrace the new one as well.

Old Guide's Musings

old guide

The Old Guide relates to fishing in the Smokey Mountains of Northern Georgia from a New Hampshire perspective.  Now retired, he brings a view of fishing born and bread in the North East to the Deep South.  How will a Trout fisherman ever survive?

Places To Stay

Listed herein are establishments in the Mount Washington Valley which we recommend (in no particular order):

THE NERELEDGE INN, BED and BREAKFAST -

This is a great place to stay, especially if you plan on doing a lot of fishing in the Saco River, the premiere Trout fishery in the Valley. We often conduct fly fishing seminars and weekends out of this fine establishment.

THE DANA PLACE INN, AT PINKHAM NOTCH -

The Dana Place Inn provides you with another of the premiere locations for Trout fishing. Located right on the upper Ellis River [actually the river flows through their property] you are literally 2 minutes from being in the river and fishing. When booking reservations, ask for their fly fishing weekend.

THE WENTWORTH -

This elegant old Inn is located right in the village of Jackson, NH. The Wildcat River is just across the street and it's also within minutes of the fly fishing only sections of the Ellis and Saco Rivers. When booking reservations, ask for their fly fishing weekend.

THE NOTCHLAND INN -

Located on Route 302 in Pinkham Notch, this Inn is surrounded by the White Mountains National Forest. There is the upper Saco River just on the other side of 302. The fly fishing only sections of the Ellis and Saco Rivers are not far from this picturesque location. When booking reservations, ask for their fly fishing weekend.

THE FARM BY THE RIVER, BED and BREAKFAST -

An original land grant from King George the III of England, guests can enjoy the historic and pastoral setting of the Farm By the River, Bed and Breakfast located on 70 scenic acres of forest and pasture and with panoramic mountain views. The fly fishing only section of the Saco River flows through the property and the B&B is just minutes from the Ellis fly fishing only section. When booking reservations, ask for their fly fishing weekend.

I know this is a short list and there are many other great places to stay in the "Valley", however, we're sure all of those listed will meet with your approval.
