Celebrating Our 10th Year

2012 will mark our 10th anniversary as owners of the North Country Angler. For the last ten years Janet and I have enjoyed your loyal patronage and we sincerely thank you for making the North Country Angler your fly shop. It is our sincere hope that you will continue to support us in our efforts to make it another ten years. In celebration of our 10th year we are making a few changes. We will be adding some new exciting product lines and hosting some specials events during the coming year.

As part of our 10th year anniversary, we've had our web site updated to a slightly new, cleaner look. We know you loved the old site and hope you embrace the new one as well.

Old Guide's Musings

old guide

The Old Guide relates to fishing in the Smokey Mountains of Northern Georgia from a New Hampshire perspective.  Now retired, he brings a view of fishing born and bread in the North East to the Deep South.  How will a Trout fisherman ever survive?

Places To Eat

Listed herein are eating establishments in the Mount Washington Valley which we recommend (in no particular order):

KRINGLE'S -

Located on route 16 in Glen, they are about a half mile north of Story Land on the right in a small strip mall. They have an excellent little deli. What is especially good are their sub's. These are NOT grinders, but the real thing "submarine sandwich". (Grinders have lettuce, mayo, green peppers, etc whereas subs have your choice of chopped pickles, onions, tomatoes, and hot peppers with olive oil, salt & pepper.)

ELVIO'S PIZZA -

Located on route 16 in North Conway, they share the building with us. As you might have guessed we know their food rather well. Great deli sandwiches made on their own sourdough bread, grinders, and of course "the best pizza north of the Bronx" by the slice or by the pie.

BEA'S CAFE -

Located in Conway this is the premier breakfast spot. No phony ambiance just good food at reasonable prices.

THE STAIRWAY CAFE -

It's small; it's on the 2nd floor up the stairway; it's crowded; it's got really good food! I can personally vouch for the "homemade corn beef hash" and eggs. If you order an omelet, you better have a friend to share it with. Located right in the village of North Conway it's a great breakfast location!

BAGELS PLUS -

Located in North Conway, they have great bagels made on site daily and good coffee to go. Sandwiches made on a bagel for lunch or breakfast.

THE MOAT BREWERY -

As the name implies they do serve a wicked selection of great brews crafted on site. They also have some great ribs and a fantastic burger.  On Rt 16 in North Conway.

JONATHON'S SEAFOOD-

If seafood is your preference this is the place. Again good food, generous servings, good service and no phony atmosphere. On Rt 16 in Conway.

DELANEY'S HOLE IN THE WALL -

If you are looking for a place a little more fancy, but not so much that it will beak the bank, Delaney's is the place. They have a large and varied menu and I hear they serve sushi, although you can't prove that by me. I think that most fishermen have a different word for sushi. Rt 16 in North Conway.

CAFE NOCHE -

If you are craving Mexican then Café Noche is far and away the best.

THE PEKING -

The very best choice for Chinese in North Conway.

I know this is a short list and there are many other great places to eat in the "Valley", however, we're sure all of those listed will meet with your approval.
